I just wanted to give a quick thank you to all the kind folks that have been linking to TextureKing lately.

I’ve uploaded a small update of 16 more free textures to the archive. The images range from spray paint, to concrete, to tree bark. There’s a few grunge photos thrown in there for good measure, as well. Thanks to Robert Kohute for offering his services for the new textures.

TextureKing may be offering more guest photo opportunities in the future. Stay tuned.

In the ongoing effort to make this site easier to use and navigate, I’ve made a few modifications to the overall layout for TextureKing. I think you’ll find the content and navigation a bit more structured and consistent across all the pages.

If you run into any issues with any portion of the update, please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or suggestions.

I just got done uploading 46 new free textures for you all. They cover a variety of categories and should prove to be some of the better stock photos on the site. In other news, TextureKing has surpassed over 20,000 downloads!

The real world has kept me pretty busy lately, but not enough to stop me from taking a slew of photos to be added to the site. I should have an update in the coming week. In the meantime, help keep the photos here free of charge by grabbing a shirt in support. Thanks.

You’ll have to excuse my over excitement for a moment. TextureKing.com has just surpassed the 10,000 download mark.

That’s 10,000 times our free stock photos have been downloaded since November of last year. I’m not sure I ever expected that number of downloads in the first year, let alone five months. Thanks again, everyone!

Well. That went much quicker and smoother than I had expected. That’s a good thing, of course.

The basic functionality of the site is essentially unchanged. I’ve just made it a bit more user friendly and attractive in terms of design. You will also notice the addition of custom advertising in addition to the Google Ads that had been running on the previous version of the site. Over the next couple of hours, I am going to be migrating the site to a new look and feel. I don’t anticipate too many issues, but just in case you’re visiting the site and something doesn’t look quite right, you know what’s going on. I will write up more on the new look and features once it’s been migrated successfully. Thank you for your patience.

I’ve just got done uploaded 20 textures in a couple of categories, including: Wood/Plant, Stone/Rock, and Metals. On another note, TextureKing has surpassed the 6000 download mark. I’m still amazed by the quick rise in traffic to this site. Thanks all!

I’ve added 16 new stock photo textures in several categories including: Concrete/Cement, Wood, and Rust. The latest free stock photographs have plenty of broken, rusted metals, peeling paint and tree trunks for your enjoyment.

As of 5 minutes ago, Texture King had it’s 1,000th stock photo download. Not in a million years did I think this tiny site would have that many downloads in under a month of existence.

A big thank you goes out to all that have visited Texture King and made it the modest success that it currently is.

I’ve added 15 new stock photos in several categories including: Concrete/Cement, Fabric, Liquids (more ice and snow) and Grunge. Check them out.

Just a quick note to say that I’ve updated the category page navigation setup. This should improve site navigation and give you an idea of how many pages each category has instead of just clicking “next” repeatedly.

I’ve added 11 new textures to the site in the Concrete/Cement, Fabric, Stone/Rock, and Wood/Plant categories. I’ve also created another category for those textures that include liquids in any state (frozen, normal liquid state and so on).

The size of each zip file is now available on the site. Simply mouseover the Download button of each image and the size of the downloadable zip file will appear in the title text. Thanks for your feedback thus far.

Some of you may have noticed some issues with the zip files for the past 30 minutes or so. I was installing a download counter for Mint (the stats application used on this site). Everything is working properly now and downloads are now being counted so that I can gear the future photos toward what is currently the most popular downloaded genre.

The script only captures the name of the zip file and the number of times it has been downloaded. It does not capture any personal data. Thank you for your patience.

We’ve made some minor edits to our FAQs to better explain some things regarding the site. We’ve also added 3 banners (88×31) for you to download and put on your own site to help support and promote our free resource stock photo resource.

We are very proud to finally get the doors open to this stock photo resource. Our initial photo upload consists of just under 100 textures sorted into several categories. If you have any questions we suggest reviewing our FAQs and Legal Mumbo Jumbo on the homepage. Enjoy
